WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
You must upload an original mix which you have solely created. It must be no shorter than 20 minutes in length or no longer than 45 minutes in length.
HOW OLD SHOULD I BE?
You must be 18 years old or over to apply for this competition.
WHO CAN ENTER?
This is an open invitation to every DJ on the planet. No matter how far-flung your small farming village may be, you can represent your roots with pride. If you can’t find the country of your location, select the wildcard entry.
WHO WILL JUDGE THE SUBMISSIONS?
A panel of industry experts, BURN ambassadors and world renowned DJs.
WHEN WILL RESIDENCY BOOTCAMP TAKE PLACE?
Clear your schedule and book out holiday from your day job - from May 22 to May 26, 2017 you could be coming to Ibiza. If you end up being one of the final 16 and then the final three, you’ll need to be prepared to return to the island, dates will be confirmed later in the competition.
CAN I PARTICIPATE IF I AM FROM X COUNTRY?
All you wildcards entrants out there unite and prepare to break out from your isolated ends. Think of the BURN Residency as your metaphorical VIP season ticket to Fabric. Our standards are high.
WHAT IS THE PRIZE?
The winning prize is a €100,000 euro contract – an investment into your DJ career. This will all be yours alongside landing the title as our 2017 champion, a reputation that will then precede you.
WHAT IF I GO OVER THE 45 MINUTES OR UNDER THE 20 MINUTES ALLOWANCE?
We strictly only accept mixes between 20:00 and 45:00 minutes in their entirety. Anything above or below will disqualify you from the competition. Be creative with everything other than your timings.
DOES IT MATTER WHAT GENRE OF MUSIC I CHOOSE TO PLAY IN MY MIX?
The audience needs to remain key to the set you hone. Be as original and irrelevant as you want, but remember this is a genre-specific competition, exclusively tailored to electronic judges and dance music fans.
WHO WILL BE LISTENING AND JUDGING THE MIXES FROM EACH COUNTRY?
The central judging team, including the head mentor, BURN ambassadors and many industry leaders.
CAN I SUBMIT A LIVE PERFORMANCE MIX FOR THIS COMPETITION?
The mix should be created specifically for the BURN Residency competition and any interfering background noises should be kept to a bare minimum to ensure sound quality is at its very best. Live performances have proved seriously popular in the past. The key is to record the set from your laptop as opposed to within a crowded environment to cancel out any noise pollution.
CAN I USE MY OWN PRODUCTIONS IN MY MIX?
Sell yourself as much as you can throughout your uploaded mix. Self-produced sounds are very welcomed and add to the level of skills we can attribute to your profile.
CAN I USE LIVE INSTRUMENTS AND VOCALS?
Yes, we do not limit you in this area, but please ensure all the recordings are clear. You can you use vocals, field recordings, samples, and self-produced sounds.
WHAT IF I'M BELOW THE AGE OF 18, CAN I STILL TAKE PART IN THIS COMPETITION?
No, you cannot enter the competition if you are below the age of 18 years old. All information is validated and checked thoroughly against all of our terms and conditions which can be found HERE.
CAN I ENTER THE COMPETITION AS PART OF A PAIR OR A GROUP?
No, you cannot enter the competition as part of a pair or a group. You must be a solo artist and performer.
CAN I ENTER MORE THAN ONE MIX?
No, you must not enter more than one mix. If you do try and play this game, your mix will be removed from your profile and this will lead to disqualification.
WHEN CAN WE EXPECT THE ‘MIX-OFF’ EVENTS?
Keep April 12th - May 1st, 2017 open and available for the Mix-Off events.
CAN I VOTE FOR MYSELF?
No, you must not vote for yourself. This will lead to disqualification.
