This weeks top picks for opening season

23 May 2017

It’s that time of the year already, summer is just around the corner and many of Ibiza’s opening parties are kicking off this week. Clubs such as Amnesia, Sankeys, Pacha, Ocean Beach and DC10 will open their doors for the first time this year, so get rid of your winter coats, dust off those flip-flops, dig out your flamingo inflatables and start planning for the season. If you’re planning to be on the island around the 24th of June, expect some epic fireworks and festivities, as is San Juan’s day, one of the biggest traditions in Spain. With so many clubs and parties opening every year the White Isle, it can seem overwhelming, but no need to panic, we’ve got your back. Here are our top picks of the most important Balearic parties to start your summer with the best beats.

Amnesia is one of Ibiza’s most iconic clubs, hosting the best of techno, house, drum and bass, trance, disco and any other electronic music genre that makes your body move on the dance floor. As expected the first one of the season isn’t for beginners, this party it’s known for its longevity, it requires serious mental and physical preparation to finish the night.

As a reward for your training, expect some of the best sets you’ll ever hear, making this opening a memorable moment for your rave bank. This year’s line-up, includes Claptone , Gorgon City, Marco Carola, Jackmaster, Erick Morillo, Hannah Wants, Les Schmitz, Luca Donzelli, Patrick Topping and Cuartero B2B Mar-T.

Mondays are usually the worst day of the week, we always feel down because of the end of the weekend, but in Ibiza, Monday means one thing, Cocoon. Its founder, Sven Väth will drag you into the darkest underground sounds with an exquisite quality.

Same as 2016, Cocoon will run for 19 weeks, from the 29th May and reach its climax on 2nd October 2017, with loads of special guests.

One of Sven Väth’s mottos is not to lose the essence of dance music with longer sets, giving the Djs freedom to explore new techniques. Väth will be sharing the venue with DJ Koze, Nina Kraviz, DJ Ilario Alicante and Dorian Paic.

If there’s a must-do in the island, that’s Pacha. Founded during the 70’s, the venue is a classic for every generation of clubbers, situated in Eivissa Town. From May until the end of the season, the intimate get-together spot becomes the buzzing and trendy place we all know it for. You’ll get a big collection of label showcases, season preview nights and DJ takeovers.

On the 24th of May, Pacha will be hosting IMS’s opening party, which will be free all night to delegates with wristbands. Behind the decks, you’ll find Masters At Work (Louie Vega & Kenny Dope), The Black Madonna and Agoria.

The magical garden of Eden will open on Wednesday 24 May. As one of the biggest clubs in San Antonio, Eden’s “tour de force” is its VOID soundsystem, it will bring you to another dimension. With more than twenty names on its line-up, including, Apollo 84, Doorly, Dale Howard, Kydus, Andy Baxter, the club will be pushing the system to its limits.

This is for the purists! Almost a rite of passage for any club lover since 1999, that’s DC10. The club reputation is not only around club lovers but also very strong among the industry, as many careers skyrocketed off the back of this iconic dj booth. Their mantra is simple - come together to share in a deep love of music on the dance floor. No frills, no fuss, no nonsense – and it still one of their priorities, this is what makes DC10 one of the most iconic experiences on the music circuit.

For its opening, many synthesizer geniuses will be under the same roof, from Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Kerri Chandler, Dubfire, Davide Squillace, Damian Lazarus, Marcel Dettmann and many more.

Do Not Sleep return to Ibiza for another season without any sleep. The nonsense house and techno party move to Sankeys and it marks the debut of the party at the Playa d’en Bossa club. The season will kick off at the end of June on Saturday 27th. Behind the decks, in the Basement, Darius Syrossian, Hector Couto, Nathan Barato, Javi Bora, AJ Christou and at the LAB, Kinnerman, Adyn, James Buron and Warner.

A main room that looks like an aircraft hanger, it could actually fit all the other clubs inside it. Privilege has become an institution when it comes to grandiose parties. With a swimming pool in the middle of the dancefloor and different levels to explore, the club pushes any boundaries you have for the nightlife experience.  Their glass-encased Vista Club has become a nirvana for house and techno parties, where people will continue to dance until dawn, where the sun will beams through the ceiling windows, illuminating the room with a magnificent view of Ibiza.

On Thursday 25th May, it will pave the way for the club’s 24th season and it’s definitely set to be one of its greatest yet. As usual, the podium dancers and the performance elements are guaranteed and the line-up has a variety of artists from all over the world, Booka Shade, Camilo Franco, Chus & Ceballos, Coyu, Edu Imbernon, Los Suruba and many more.

Dalt Vila will be without a doubt the grand finale of Ibiza’s electronic music conference, International Music Summit, also known as IMS. Dalt Vila is part of UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was once a fortress guarding Ibiza Town, it’s a stunning and unlikely location to find yourself at an electronic music gig. On Friday 26th May, the venue will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and the line up is split by a series of ferocious b2b sessions. Gladiator duels between, Maceo Plex b2b Tale of Us, Dixon b2b Kenlou (Masters at Work), The Martinez Brothers b2b Kenlou, B Traits b2b Jesse Rose and finally our 2016 BURN Residency winner Lollino mixing back to back with Manu Gonzalez.
